Barn Reconstruction at Americana Winery

AMERICANA VINEYARDS SWING BEAM BARN - Circa 1820

Americana Vineyards historic structure began its’ life on Arden Rd., outside of the Village of Trumansburg, in the 1820's. Built primarily for grain storage, it was slated for demolition in 2002, when it was purchased, dismantled and moved to it’s current site in the Town of Covert. After three years of painstaking restoration, it currently welcomes visitors from all over the world and serves as the tasting room and gift shop at Americana Vineyards & Winery.
Americana Vineyards barn restoration project is recognized by the State of New York, in conjunction with the National Parks Service, as part of the Historic Preservation Planning Program . The restoration and preservation of barns and related agricultural buildings in New York State is a statewide priority. In addition to being symbols of the cultural lifestyles of earlier generations, these structures tell a unique story of our agricultural history and heritage, and provide a visual account of rural life both past and present in New York State. They have become an integral part of our agricultural scenic landscape and one of heightened importance in New York State where agriculture has traditionally been, and continues to be, an industry of economic importance. It is important to protect these treasures and preserve the scenic landscape for future generations.
We hope you will enjoy your visit to Americana Vineyards’ Circa 1820's ”Swing-Beam Threshing Barn” and listen to the stories of the past, that it has to pass on to future generations.

Barn's have been dis-assembled and moved to Americana.
